The New Zealand Mortgage Brokers Association
(NZMBA) is an incorporated society, founded in 1997, to represent
the interests of mortgage brokers and to promote the growth of the mortgage
broking industry in New Zealand.
The Constitution of the NZMBA
establishes a Committee to govern and oversee the management of the NZMBA.The
Committee’s role is to agree the policy and direction of the NZMBA.
The NZMBA is the representative voice
of the mortgage broking industry in New Zealand. The industry has grown rapidly
and it is estimated that 30% of all mortgages are placed through mortgage
brokers.
Our core objectives are:
1. Promoting the mortgage broking industry to consumers:
- Working with media
- Increasing public awarenes
- Winning consumer confidence
2. Growing market share of the mortgage broking industry and building a strong
NZMBA brand
3. Promoting high standards of professional, business and ethical conduct
for mortgage brokers
4. Influencing regulators to build a regulatory regime that is appropriate
to our industry
5. Providing education and professional development for mortgage brokers
6. Providing a forum for the discussion and the development of common business
interests.
7. To inform our members about all developments which may affect their business
The New
Zealand Mortgage Brokers Association (NZMBA) promotes the
highest standards of professional and ethical conduct, including expert knowledge,
integrity, competency and service to clients, lenders and the public of New
Zealand.
The NZMBA provides education,
legislative and regulatory representation, and public relations for our members
while acting as a forum for the discussion and development of common business
interests.

Our Mortgage
Brokers must:
- be open, honest and sincere;
- act in your interests;
- act impartially ;
- act fairly and carefully;
- be professional
- act independently of any lender;
- have relevant and current experience;
- represent at least six lenders;
- have passed appropriate qualifications;
- tell you the source of all commissions;
- have at least $1 million in professional indemnity insurance cover.

NZMBA
Mortgage Brokers must follow the NZMBA Code of Ethics. If
they don’t and you have a complaint it can be heard by the NZMBA Disciplinary
